Vinyl Collective II

Our first contest with Vinyl Collective went so well we're back for a second round. Do you really know your records? Time once again to prove it.

For this contest, and take a look at the image. Your job is to identify all eight records pictured. As a tie breaker, let us know what side is facing up on record #8 (here's a hint, it's either A, B, C or D). You can email your answers to info@suburbanhomerecords.com with the subject "VINYL COLLECTIVE / PUNKNEWS.ORG CONTEST" to enter. One winner will be selected later this month, and that winner will receive a $100 gift certificate in the Vinyl Collective online store. Good luck!

Win a guitar from Eisley

With their new album set to drop this week, Eisley, has decided to give one of you an acoustic guitar. Using it, you can start up your own folk/punk group, sign to a succession of ever larger indies before making the jump to a major label and freaking everybody out.

The band's new record is titled Combinations and is due out August 14, 2007. You can catch Eisley on a whirlwind tour through the United States beginning in early September.

New Found Glory: From the Screen to Your Stereo, Part 2

In a few weeks New Found Glory will be marking their return to the independent world with the release of From The Screen To Your Stereo, Part 2. The album is a "sequel" to the band's popular 2000 release, From the Screen to Your Stereo.

To mark this occasion, the band has provided us with a pile of commemorative swag and since our swag coffers are currently overflowing with major label payola as well as free Bentleys, we've decided to give it to you instead. Besides a copy of the new record, the band has provided some drumsticks used in the recording session, two vinyl records and more.

F*ck Yeah Fest!

On August 25th and 26th. Echo Park in Los Angeles, California will be coming alive with the 2007 edition of Fuck Yeah fest As with previous years, the show is curated by Keith Morris and promoter Sean Carlson. The bill is a big one, particularly for fans of bands who rarely play live. Saturday will feature The Explosion's final West Coast show, American Steel, Partyline (ex-Bratmobile), The Fleshies, Busdriver and more. The Sunday will include Deerhunter, Pissed Jeans, Jay Reatard, the Nice Boys and many others.

To celebrate this, the promoters handed us some free stuff to give to one lucky winner. To ensure you'll have a good time, you'll get two passes to the shows, two of the extra special silkscreened Raymond Pettibon posters and a 12 pack of "age appropriate" drinks.

Portugal the Man

Portugal the Man are busy on the road supporting their recent efffort, Church Mouth. This Thursday the band will playing central Virginia and want to give away two sets of two tickets in part with local promoter The Trigger System!. Since The Office is in repeat season, what better way to kill a Thursday night than heading to a free show?

Fly to Las Vegas with Atreyu

Atreyu will launch their new album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor, on August 28, 2007 and the band would like you to be their guest to celebrate the release with them in Las Vegas. Atreyu is giving away a trip for two to Las Vegas where you and a friend will get an autographed copy of the new album, a special meet and greet with the band, and will watch the whole show right from the stage.

From First to Last

Los Angeles, CA group From First To Last are currently on tour and will be hitting Richmond, VA this Saturday, August 4th. Our pals over at The Trigger System! are giving away three sets of two tickets to the show. Additionally, all six people will have an exclusive meet and greet with the band prior to the show.

Vinyl Collective

Though it was definitely a challenging contest, a few of you managed to score an impressive 12 out of 11 on the Vinyl Collective contest. While there were a few people who got all eleven, one winner also managed to get the color of the vinyl correct in almost every case.

Pretty impressive eyes on Evan W. who scored the $100 gift certificate and will be able to pick up some of the records pictured.
