Dischord Interviews
Channels

J.Robbins (Channels, Jawbox, Government Issue)

I recently had a chance to speak with the legendary J. Robbins about his new band Channels. Robbins is a veteran producer responsible for records from Against Me! and Dismemberment Plan, as well as a member of beloved acts like Jawbox, Burning Airlines, Government Issue, and many others.

We spoke about his new project, but also touched on his experiences in Jawbox and Burning Airlines, his work with Against Me! and Dismemberment Plan and more.

Victory Interviews
Darkest Hour

Darkest Hour

With the recent release of Archives, their collection of rarities released on Anti-Flag's A-F, an opportunity arose to have a quick chat with Darkest Hour and specifically their guitarist Mike Schleibaum.

We talked about life with Victory Records, the new album the reissue, punk-metal and the weirdest things about metal kids and punk kids.

The Sainte Catherines

The Sainte Catherines

My man crush and yours, Dante3000, sat down with Fat's favorite (and only) Quebecois band, the Sainte Catherines. Hugo, Mark and Pablo schooled Rich on a short history of the band, their views on the mainstream and various surfaces fit for the signing of signatures. As with all of Rich's interviews, you can hear the full audio of interview at Sound Scene Revolution. Back to the hot tub.

Hopeless Interviews
Samiam

Sergie Loobkoff (Samiam, Solea)

I recently had a chance to ask my friend Sergie Loobkoff a few questions about his bands, Samiam and Solea.

The band released Whatever's Got You Down and told me about everything from the production influences (Jesu, TV on the Radio) to their setlists to their almost-breakup.

Interviews
Saosin

Saosin

A couple months ago I had the opportunity to throw together a few questions to send over the busy frontman of Saosin; Cove Reber. After relentless touring and the release of their debut full-length Saosin (LP), I heard back from the singer.

Sparta

Jim Ward (Sparta/At the Drive-In)

Earlier this week, Sparta released their third album, the appropriately named Threes. I had a chance to speak to frontman Jim Ward about the record last week while they were in Burlington, Vermont.

Jim told me about the process of making the record, the departure of guitarist Paul Hinojos who had been playing with Jim since the At the Drive-In days, and even addresses some long-standing questions about Sparta, and last year's At the Drive-In retrospective, This Station Is Non-Operational.

Red Scare Interviews
The Falcon

The Falcon / Red Scare

Talk about stoking the hype machine. I sat down with Richard of Sound Scene Revolution, Toby from Red Scare, Brendan and Neil from the Falcon and had a frank discussion about the band, the label and the aborted interview I did a year ago in the same room.

There's quite a bit of "questionable" content below, no wonder Brendan kept asking if we could edit this in production. Read on, fair reader, and you'll discover the secrets behind oral agreements in the record industry, Neil's union-busting and…well, there's a lot in here.

You can hear the whole thing at our friends Sound Scene Revolution, and they're giving away some stuff too. Check it out.

Dischord Interviews
The Evens

Ian MacKaye

In a brief but pointed interview, Brandon Sideleau speaks with underground music legend Ian MacKaye. Mackaye, a veteran of a number of acts, notably Minor Threat, Fugazi and The Evens, among others, sheds some light on his upcoming release, as well as his former bandmate Joe Lally's solo record and even briefly addresses Fugazi's "indefinite hiatus."

Ian's current band, The Evens, will be releasing Get Evens in November.

E1 Music Interviews

HORSE the Band (Part 2)

We read last week what happens when a quick band intro goes awry as the best darn codpiece cobbler ever spoke with HORSE the Band. Today, we're going to power through the rest of the interview in all of it's unnverving hilarity. We get to hear about their "issues" with their new Pizza EP, why their label, Combat Records, is retarded, and some "amusing" threats concerning oral stimulation. You can hear the full audio of the interview, along with cuts (still hurts) of the Pizza EP, at Sound Scene Revolution. The site will also be running a contest where two lucky winners will receive a copy of the Pizza EP courtesy of HORSE the Band. My mind is still reeling but the band is right: "We're so going to hell for this."

E1 Music Interviews
HORSE the Band

HORSE the Band (Part 1)

Dante3000 and the SoundScene Revolution crew recently visited San Francisco's Tenderloin where they had the chance to speak with California natives HORSE the Band regarding everything from their new Pizza EP, to why their label, Combat Records, is retarded and even more juicy Underoath gossip. You can hear the full audio of the interview, along with cuts (ouch) of the Pizza EP, at Sound Scene Revolution. The site will also be running a contest where two lucky winners will receive a copy of the Pizza EP courtesy of HORSE the Band. Apparently, the band and Dante don't know when to quit, so we're running this one in two parts. It's hard to sum up exactly what happens but read on and find out why "We're so going to hell for this."

Revelation Interviews
Texas Is The Reason

Texas is the Reason

It was recently announced that beloved post-hardcore quartet Texas Is The Reason would be reuniting for a performance in New York City this fall. Tickets for the show go on sale today.

Punknews.org spoke with guitarist Norm Arenas about the reunion and got some answers to some of the questions that have followed the band since their sudden breakup in 1997.

Originally formed by former Arenas, a former Shelter guitarist and 108 drummer Chris Daly, the band released a handful of singles but only one full length, the classic Do You Know Who You Are?. Just as they were alledgedly signing to a major label for the follow up, the band split up with members going on to join and form New Rising Sons, Jets to Brazil, and New End Original.
