Get Dead on their new album

In the wake of a global pandemic and changes to the way we look at everything, one thing we can always count on is punk musicians bringing us tunes that challenge the status quo. From the Rock against Bush comps, to MDC's "Trumpf" songs, and basically everything Jello ever did, punk has questioned those at the top. Get Dead have just released Dancing with the Curse , which follows the history of punks combating the powers that be. Punknews' David Wilkins just sat down with the band's Sam King to chat about the new album, the president, the youth, and more.

Milo of the Descendents on his new EP, Trump, and Ronnie James Dio

Milo of Descendents is on the attack. As you know, a VERY, VERY important election is just three weeks away. Milo, like many of us, feels that democracy itself is at stake. To express these thoughts, he has released an EP under the name RebUke- it is three uke-tunes blasting Trump and it rocks. That's out now via Epitaph and Fat.

Joe Keithley on the inspiration behind D.O.A.'s new video, corruption, and Trump

Earlier this year, D.O.A. released Treason, an album that directly addresses the upcoming U.S. Election. Pretty much every track, like "All the rpesdient's men," "Treason," and the "Fucked up Donald" re-cut directly comment on the great orange one. There is a lot on the line, people. To that end, Punknews' John G spoke to D.O.A. frontman Joe Keithley about the album, the video for "All the president's men," and Trump. Check it out below.

Tom of the Menzingers talks the band's new album

The Menzingers were set to embark on tours across the globe throughout 2020 following the release of last year’s Hello Exile. Unfortunately, all those plans were ground to a halt as exile became the new norm in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. With time on their hands and a new album with a title a little too eerily relatable, the band set out to reimagine their latest offering in the vein of their On The Possible Past release. Baz on NOFX's 'The Decline - live at Red Rocks'

In April, at the height of initial coronavirus shutdown in America, Fat Wreck Chords and NOFX released a live recording of The Decline . The release featured the Denver Orchestra and a composer and recent credit on a slew of Fat Mike connected projects, Baz. Baz is a French composer, jazz drummer, and punk rocker. Recently, Punknews’ Eric Rosso caught up with Baz to discuss the release, his relationship with Fat Mike, and what it’s like to be on stage with NOFX and an orchestra. Or as Fat Mike eloquently puts it, “We got a fucking bassoon. Does Bad Religion have a fucking bassoon?”

Jet Fuel Chemistry talk their new album

Up and coming Dublin-based hard rock/metal band Jet Fuel Chemistry are about to release their debut EP. Doing so in lockdown (albeit partial) is a bold move, but the band are keen for people to hear what they’ve been working on. Punknews staffer Sam Houlden spoke to bassist Lorcan Macken and vocalist Dan Cusack about the release.

Naked Raygun's Jeff Pezzati on his new solo EP

The great quarantine of 2020 has rendered most of the human race desperately grabbing at new hobbies or long desired projects in an attempt to shine some light through the monotony. This includes Naked Raygun's Jeff Pezzati, who dedicated some days of stay-at-home orders to tie a few loose ends, and release two EP's of solo material that he has been tinkering with for years. The result is a bizarre, fun, collection of tunes that venture all over the place, but never waver from Pezzati's keen vocal melodies. Punknews' Mike Elfers recently spoke to Jeff on the phone about the release of the first solo EP, the future of Naked Raygun, and the unadulterated truth of running a raccoon animal rescue out of your own house in the middle of a pandemic.

Monty Messex reflects on 25 years of DFL's 'Proud to Be' LP

Today marks the 25th anniversary of DFL's Proud to Be LP!

When the album was originally released, the band had just migrated from the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label to Epitaph, and were ready to cut an album that, while quickly recorded, became one of their definitive statements. Released at the height of pop punk slickness, Proud to Be was a rough, raw, ragged hardcore record. While it threw back to the damaged geniuses of the late '70s and early '80s, the record sounded distinctly fresh when it was released. The strange thing is that the record rocks so hard that it sounds timely, or even timeless today. This record kicks!

Frank Turner on his new Nofx split LP, Covid lockdown, and English accents

Today, Frank Turner and NoFX release their split covers LP West Coast vs Wessex. so, Punknews' Steven Farkas spoke to Frank Turner about his reaction to working with a band that was such an influence on his life and what it was like seeing them bring their own take to his songs. We also delve into his process to the seemingly impossible talk of selecting five songs from NOFX’s long career to record himself as well as why Fat Mike could have had him banned from the USA and what it’s like making videos in lockdown.

Jesse Barnett and Sergie Loobkoff of Ways Away

Ways Away is a band you already know, even though you might not have heard of them. While the group doesn’t really want to be coined a “supergroup,” Ways Away boasts members of Samiam, Stick To Your Guns, BoySetsFire, Paint It Black, Knapsack, Trade Wind, and Racquet Club just to name a few. The band only has few shows under their belt, and like everyone else, has been managing the pandemic in their own fashion. Their self-titled debut album is out now, and Punknews interviewer Chris Barrett sat down with singer Jesse Barnett and guitarist Sergie Loobkoff to talk about coming together, managing as a “side project,” and shifting focuses during the pandemic.
