Jello Biafra Walks Us Through his Entire Discography

Jello Biafra has done about a million projects. From the seminal Dead Kennedys to his fititing team up with DOA to his surprising combo with Melvins to his newest band Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine to the berserk, industrial pummeling of Lard, the J-man has done it all. Really, you could fill an entire book with any one of his albums. But, to get just a taste of his works-a-plenty, we had Jello tell us a little bit about almost every single one of his albums (and that's a lot of albums, mind you). Check out Jello's reflections on his LPs below. Later this week, we'll sit down with the reigning champ himself for an in-depth interview.

Sima Brami and Nir Klein of Not On Tour

If you follow the European festival scene even just a little bit (or attend them), chances are that you have seen Tel Aviv, Israel's Not On Tour in a line up be it Sbäm Fest, Brakrock Ecofest, FFUD Fest or Punk Rock Holiday. Or perhaps you saw them open for bands like the Descendents, Strung Out or Useless ID. To many of us in North America, the band is a hidden gem for those who love melodic punk rock with songs filled to the brim with unrelenting guitar riffs and huge, anthemic vocals. Just listen to their latest full-length, 2015’s Bad Habits and you will immediately become a believer. Punknews editor Ricky Frankel spoke to lead singer Sima Brami and bassist Nir Klein about their style of punk rock, the punk scene in Tel Aviv, some of their more special shows, what they have planned for the not-so-distant future and more.

For Halloween Craig Finn is Paul Stanley. We Should All Be Paul Stanley.

Craig Finn is in the midst of a North American tour with John K. Samson in support of his recent full length We All Want the Same Things . He and his band, the Uptown Controllers, will conclude their month-long trek this evening in New York at the City Winery. This being both Halloween and the big finale, Finn's got a plan to make the show special -- a plan that pretty heavily involves the Starchild. Toronto-based writer Graham Isador caught up with the Hold Steady frontman to get to the bottom of it.

Spike Slawson of Uke-Hunt

Spike Slawson's Uke-Hunt is kicking off an East Coast tour tomorrow evening in Quebec CIty. It'll include several shows in la belle province along with gigs Ontario, New York, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. Toronto-based writer Graham Isador caught up with Spike for to chat about the ukulele-driven band, his recent work with Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, and more.

Neil Wayne and Josh Lewis of The Bombpops

On October 15th Punknews caught up with The Bombpops at the London stop of their UK/EU tour. As a sort of follow-up to the Punknews interview of Jen Razavi and Poli van Dam last January, Editor Jeff Sorley focused his interview on the other half of the band, bassist Neil Wayne and drummer Josh Lewis. Andy Slania and Ryan Bollis of The Eradicator

Sometimes a joke can go completely out of control and have a very awesome result in the end. That is exactly what happened with Chicago’s The Eradicator — the band based totally on the Kids In The Hall Sketch of the same name. The band has been getting a lot of attention for their funny and unconventional… well… everything about them is unconventional. They released their great self-titled LP on October 13, 2017 through Stonewalled and not only are they going to be performing at FEST 16, but they will also be touring Hawaii and Australia with Bong Mountain starting later this month.

Editor Ricky Frankel caught up with vocalist Andy Slania and bassist Ryan Bollis to talk about the band’s new album, the music video for “I’m A Squash Man” and the music video for “Squash Queen,” their connection to Direct Hit!, how a screw up ended up helping the band in the long run and more. Tony Clark of Prawn

New Jersey’s Prawn have been one of the many bands attributed to the emo revival in the late 2000s. However, they’ve always transcended that genre and label, producing shimmery post-rock, indie anthems which up the ante on what ‘emo’ means. Their journey led to a tour with Jimmy Eat World earlier this year and now, they’re back again, following up 2014’s Kingfisher, with Topshelf Records once more providing a home for their new full-length. Prawn’s lead, Tony Clark, chatted with Punknews' Renaldo Mantadeen on the new release, Run, which is out now.

Osamu Kawahara on the surprise reunion of Sticks & Stones

Quite surprisingly, earlier this week, the lauded, but cult, New Jersey punk band Sticks & Stones announced a one-off reunion show. The band will be playing in their Theme Song for Nothing lineup because bassist Osamu Kawahara is moving back to Japan.

Kawahara's story is quite an adventure. He came to the states not knowing a word of English, but ended up being drafted into Sticks & Stones. Early on, before Kawahara was fluent in English, he would communicate with Sticks & Stones' Scott Hollingsworth and Jack Terricloth through music. From there, his story involves recording a troubled album, fighting with Nazis, and bring the two original members of World/Inferno Friendship Society back together. Check out the interview below.
