Buck-O-Nine: “Sustain”

It's always a treat for us old ska-heads when a veteran band releases a new album. When it's the first recorded appearance in seven years, it's even more exciting. Sustain is Buck-O-Nine's return to the fray, featuring their signature punked up ska sound. For those who miss the simplicity of the third wave without all the unnecessary goofiness, check it out.

The Hot Toddies

The Hot Toddies: “Smell The Mitten”

Oakland's Hot Toddies have sugary sweet melodies, even if sometimes their words are the kind of drrrty you'd like to hide from your parents. They'll be releasing their Asian Man debut on September 11th and you can preview the whole thing here at the Org.

Check out tracks like "Anais Nin vs. The Pirates of Santa Cruz," "Photosynthesis," and "Ocean" for a taste of their sound. It mixes dance beats, sugary sweety melodies, simple acoustic strumming and a seriously quirky sense of humor.

The Steal

The Steal: 'The Steal'

About a year ago, a promising UK-based melodic hardcore act called the Steal released their full-length to great reviews. Now, just as they are about to embark on a U.S. tour, the band has finally found a home in North America for the record -- Winter Park, Florida's Get Outta Town -- and to coincide with both the tour and this long-awaited domestic release, we've got a full album stream of the entire thing.

Here's the short version: if you like a band that is equally influenced by Kid Dynamite, Descendents and Gorilla Biscuits you'll like this. We reviewed the record last year, so you can see what our review said here: The Steal.

You can check out the album on their Punknews.org Profile.

Dear Tonight

Dear Tonight: first half of 'We're Not Men'

Dear Tonight's We're Not Men, doubts of masculinity or not, is arguably one of the year's best debuts. To borrow a line from the namesake one of our faithful users, I'm not feeling creative right now, so let's just say they "[bridge] the ever-widening gap between early emotional hardcore…and its latter-day counterparts."

If that doesn't do it for ya, luckily we're streaming the first half of the record on their Punknews.org band page profile, with the other half available soon from our friends at Pastepunk.
