New Noise Magazine has premiered a new track from LA based alt-punks Big Mother Gig. Their new Trump-inspired single "The Great Heist" has been released via their house label Sweet Sweet Records, and is the band's first new material since 2017's Almost Primed, which itself ended a 20 year gap.

Paper Rifles: “Ophelia”

Punknews is excited to premiere a new track from Edinburgh's Paper Rifles. "Ophelia," originally released as an acoustic track in 2015, is presented here in electric with a full band, and is chock full of indie stylings with a nice punk aesthetic. The track comes off the band's debut album The State Of It All, which is due out March 2nd on Round Dog Records and Anti-Manifesto Records.

The band will be holding an album release party on March 3rd in their hometown but, before that, Jon (songwriter/lead vocalist/guitarist) will be hitting Europe for a Paper Rifles acoustic tour with Billy Liar. You can check out the stream, and all of those tour dates, below.

Comrades stream new EP “Matter of Fact”

Punknews is excited to premiere the new EP from NYC folk/crust/ska/punk collective Comrades for you on this fine Christmas day. The eight song Matter of Fact EP is four parts electric, four parts acoustic folk, and 100% goodness.

Comrades formed in 2010 and is primarily based out of NYC, although a few core members now habitate outside of the city as far as eastern Pennsylvania. Their last release was a the three-way 420 Split with Breathe Dissent and Burnsgreen in 2015 on Dumpster Bread Records.

The band also helped found and still puts on the Folk the Park festival showcasing folk punk acts, as well as inviting along non-folk punk acts to re-work their songs in the folk punk-style. 2018 will will be the tenth Folk the Park, in Tompkins Square Park, NYC (more details on that event will be forthcoming on Punknews when available).

The album, Spirale Infernale, released via Paper + Plastick Records is out today as a digital download, with CDs later this month and vinyl being released in January.
