Stream the new Rats in the Wall / Heartless Folk split EP (Punknews Exclusive)

Today, Punknews is thrilled to debut the new split EP with Rats in the Wall and Heartless Folk, titled Skeletal Twins!

Rats in Wall, which features Brad Logan of Leftover Crack and Eva Hall of Gather, make their trade in aggressive, dark hardcore. Their half of the split finds the band focusing their sound into a massive, hard smashing while Hall spits out lyrics dwelling on feminist issues and the destruction of the human race.

Meanwhile, up-and-comers Heartless Folk span the punk map, drawing influence from street punk, anarcho punk, and traditional hardcore. While their split companions focus on macro-issues, Heartless Folk address similar topics on the personal scale. Together, the pair compliment and contrast each other sonically and conceptually.

The release is out now via Logan's Blacknoise records. You can buy it here. Meanwhile, you can stream the entire thing on their Punknews.org Profile

Mischief Brew

Mischief Brew: 'Bacchanal 'n' Philadelphia'

Today, Punknews is absolutely psyched to debut the new compilation by Mischief Brew!

Bacchanal 'n' Philadelphia is a remastered reissue of the band's formative releases, the Brew half of 2003's Bellingham & Philadelphia and 2004's Bakenal. But, whereas the band's recent outings have the band smashing it up electric-anarcho-style, the comp showcases just frontman Erik Petersen and a guitar. Yet whereas so many solo-guitar-guy records devolve into milquetoast blandness or Springsteen worship, Bacchanal 'n' Philadelphia exhibits Petersen as a master of melody, but he's not scared to flash those fangs every once in a while. There is also a song called "Roll Me Through the Gates of Hell" which is marvelous.

You can pre-order the vinyl version here and the CD version here. There's a record release show tonight and a few upcoming dates which you can see below. Meanwhile, stream the whole record right here, right now.
