Really Red

Really Red announce massive reissue series

Punknews is extremely excited to announce that famed agit-punks Really Red are going to reissue their entire catalog. Really Red made a name for themselves in the early '80s Texas scene by fusing a post-punk texture into the hardcore punk scene, espousing a radically leftist view point, and playing alongside bands like The Dicks and Big Boys.

Well, on January 20, Alternative Tentacles Records will release a three volume set comprising every single officially released Really Red track, along with some never before released tunes. The collection will be sold as a two CD set or as three individual vinyl records.

Volume 1: Teaching You The Fear includes the band's first LP. Volume 2: Rest In Pain is the band's second LP that has been out of print for 30 years. Volume 3: News Strings For Old Puppets collects the band's singles as well as unreleased tracks, including the "Modern Needs" and "Crowd Control" singles as well as a never-released track that has survived only on a cassette found in Jello Biafra's personal collection. The entire set was remastered by Jello Biafra himself.

Plus, we've got an extra little treat. Right now, almost two months before the release date, we're streaming two of the band's remastered tracks. You can check out "Teaching You the Fear" and "Too Political" on the band's Punknews.org Profile.

Legendary Wings: 'Do You See'

Legendary Wings: 'Do You See'

Punknews is excited to debut the new album by Legendary Wings. The LP is called Do You See and it's a real barnstormer. The band takes Ramones-core speed and chugging and then completely rips the whole thing apart with messy, garage rock distortion and just a smidgen of Weezer-ish balladry. The album rocks up front but has soul at the edge of every riff.

The release will be out in the next few weeks via Dirtnap Records. Ordering information is here. Meanwhile, you can listen to the whole thing right now on the band's Punknews.org Profile

Today's stream is a split release from Slow Science and The Dauntless Elite.

Slow Silence kick out energetic, '90s alt-rock-influenced jams that embrace melody as much as discordant feedback. Meanwhile, the Dauntless Elite pull at your emotions with delicate picking and heartfelt choruses.

Entropy: “All Work, No Plagiarism”

Today's stream comes from Orange County, New York-based Entropy. We've got a stream of the band's new release, All Work, No Plagiarism.

On the release, the band blasts though hyper-short tunes influenced by the likes of modern hardcore champions including Paint it Black and Cloak/Dagger. But, while the musical backing comes from the east coast, the band's vocals are pure 80's California punk. Hints of Mike Muir and Ron Reyes are found in vocalist Brian Lawrence's voice as he screams about ecstasy at the Circle K. This is hardcore that doesn't forget to be punk.

You can find the pre-sale here. Meanwhile, you can find the new album on the band's Punknews.org Profile

Bracket

Bracket: 'Hold Your Applause'

Bracket is back, baby! Hold Your Applause is the group's first album in eight years and throughout it, the band once again shows just how unique they are.

Those beautiful Beach Boy harmonies open the album only for them to pull out the rug and kick into buzzing power-pop-punk. But, while the band pulls out all their trademarks here, this isn't a nostalgia trip. The band takes their earlier sound and fashions it into something more precise, more tactical, and frankly, more soulful than before. This is sort of like what would have happened if Brian Wilson was a Ramones fan.

The release is out today via Head2Wall Records. You can buy the vinyl here and buy the CD here. Meanwhile, we've got a stream of the album on the band's Punknews.org Profile
