South Bay Bessie

South Bay Bessie: “On Chicago Time”

Remember South Bay Bessie? They were a Michigan pop-punk band active in the early and mid 2000s, whose name might remind you of one of the best beers ever made. They broke up in 2006 to little fanfare and sandwiches. But now, they've returned for a new 7-inch titled Too Late, due out December 3, 2013 via Save Your Generation. The release features previously unreleased material recorded way back in 2006, but it seems as though the band will be around for more, newer things.

You can check out a song from Too Late, "On Chicago Time," at the band's Punknews.org Profile.

It also includes an unreleased bonus track, a surprisingly faithful cover of The Zombies' "This Will Be Our Year." Today, we're pleased to be bringing our readers a first listen of that cover.

Midnight Reruns

Midnight Reruns: 'Midnight Reruns'

Today's stream comes from Milwaukee, WI-based Midnight Reruns. On their self-titled debut, the band take lovingly obvious cues from fellow midwesterners The Replacements, with palpable hints of loss, longing, fucking up and being fucked up set to the tune of powerfully melody-driven, but still-fractured gutter pop riffs.

Head to their Punknews.org profile to listen. Midnight Reruns is due out November 12, 2013 via Good Land.
