The Last: “I Know”

Today's stream comes from Los Angeles, CA-based The Last. "I Know" will appear on the band's upcoming LP Danger, due out November 5, 2013 via End Sounds.

Of note is the band's new lineup, which includes Descendents / ALL rhythm section Karl Alvarez and Bill Stevenson on bass and drums, respectively, along with brothers and original members Joe and Mike Nolte.

The Last originally formed in 1976, and issued their debut L.A. Explosion! in 1979 via Bomp!. They went on to release most of their other material via SST Records, including their most recent full-length, 1996's Gin & Innuendoes. They'll also be performing at The Fest 12 on Nov. 3.

Koffin Kats: “Born of the Motor” (Exclusive)

Today's stream comes from Detroit, MI-based Koffin Kats. We've got a stream of the title track from their upcoming release Born of the Motor. The record will be the group's 7th full-length release to date and is due out October 22, 2013 via Sailor's Grave Records.

Deep Pockets: 'You Feel Shame' (Exclusive)

Today's stream comes from New York, NY-based Deep Pockets. We've got a stream of the band's new release, You Feel Shame, which is due out September 24, 2013 via Iron Pier.

Vocalist Matt Brannan gives some insight into the release:

In an age of rote genre aping and boring nonsense that's portrayed as mysterious talent, the only path for us as a band has been to simply be ourselves. Since we began, that has left us slightly at odds with our surroundings. We don't particularly look or sound like any single, easily pigeonholed thing. We're happy about that. When we play, we tend to move around a bit and turn some heads. It's not a put on. It's not a shuck. It's just what we are. For the last couple years we've been making the rounds with singles, splits and eps as we continue to grow on our own terms.

You Feel Shame is our first full length document of all of this. Musically, the songs on You Feel Shame touch on 80's and 90's indie and post-hardcore as well as 70's and 80's guitar rock. Lyrically, we're examining ourselves using our own language of co-opted literature, obscene inside jokes, and distorted family anecdotes…. It's the next step in our trip as a band. That step can't come soon enough.

Today's stream comes from San Francisco, CA-based Great Apes. We've got a stream of the band's debut full-length, Thread, which is due out September 17, 2013 via Asian Man Records and Side With Us Records.

The Bay Area quartet, which features Brian Moss of The Ghost and Hanalei fame, recorded Threads at the Atomic Garden in East Palo Alto with Jack Shirley, formerly of Comadre. Each song on the release is about a different close friend to the band based off intimate conversations and interviews.
