Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: When and how did you first get involved with Punknews? What led you to become staff?

A: Good question. I first got involved with Punknews, or "Tha P-N" as the kids say (I understand that shortening words is very hip with the the kidz these dayz (so is replacing s with z)), by first writing reviews. My very first review was of the Misfits in Sayersville.

After I did about 35 reviews, I asked reviews editor (at tha time) Brian Shultz to make me a staff reviewer. Because physical releases were still popular then (but about to be wiped out) he sent me a huge bag of stuff. I reviewed some of them and then started to do interviews. (I actually did interviews for local free papers before writing for Tha P-N).

I sent the interviews editor at the time a request to do an interview with… Keith Morris(?) and he said okay so I did it. After that, I just kept submitting ideas for interviews and doing reviews.

After about two years (which was longer than most people) they made me staff. Then, after I did a bunch of big feature style pieces and appeared on the podcast, I asked to be made editor- like when Charlemagne, just before being crowned ruler of the Holy Roman Empire by the Pope, stood up, took the crown out of the Pope's hands, and crowned himself. So Punx!

So, if you want to get involved with Da P-N, my advice is to start writing reviews and/or send an e-mail to an editor to request to do an interview. (Be sure to contact an editor before contacting the artists). After a while, power shall be bestowed upon ye… probably.

And once you have the power, then you can make all those slithering worms beneath you tremble with fear… MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA!

Or you can do what I do and just shout out the names of the four same bands over and over and over at any given opportunity.

Also, you get to hang out with Robert Downy Jr., Laura Prepon, and Biz Markie, which is fun.

Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: Whose discography do you prefer: Joe Strummer's of John Lydon's?

A: I prefer Joe's because there's so much there. From The 101ers, to The Only Band That Matters, the amazing Earthquake Weather , to the soundtracks he composed, to the Mescaleros. Everything is wonderful and this is totally not a bias answer.

I never got into Public Image Ltd even though I tried really hard because I used to love the Sex Pistols. I felt nothing though, man!
