Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: In what way(s) can pornogrind and goregrind be considered art forms?

A: Well, I go by the old George Carlan adage, that I am going to butcher because I don't know how to google: "Anything, if done well, can be funny."

I'm not entirely sure I agree with that statement, but I'm not sure that I disagree with it either. The point is, I think anything that is legal, that if done well, can be art.

So, if an artist truly is trying to make art, the simple act of saying it is art makes it art (as long as the artist is genuine and isn't being snarky, or something like that). But, not all art is good art.

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as "pornogrind" until you mentioned it. Apparently, pornogrind is grindcore music with only sexual themes. I'm going to lose a few punx points here, but all grindcore basically sounds the same to me. A band smashes along for 40 seconds, making a discordant racquet, some guy shrieks, and the song is over.

I feel as though grindcore has potential, but few bands really capitalize on it. Really, I think Napalm Death is one of the few bands to really explore what grindcore is, and they aren't even strictly a grindcore band.

As for porno-grindcore, I suppose grindcore about sexual stuff, could be good art, I just haven't seen it. Maybe, a good way to make pornogrind interesting is to write about sex from an unusual perspective. Perhaps the view of the condom? The view of the disapproving father? The view of the lady that works at the abortion clinic? The view of the porno director that is bored of sex?

I challenge you porno-grindcore bands- push your music to its absolute limits!

Or just listen to 2 Live Crew.

Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: Do you play video games? On what platform? Any in particular you'd like to mention?

A: Actually, I just got back from a place in Philly called "Barcade." It's a bar with about 50 old school video game machines. They've got all the classics. There's Gauntlet II, Golden Axe, TRON, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man (that delightful minx!), Donkey Kong, Smash TV, Rampage, Robotron, Double Dragon (arcade version is WAAAAAAY better than NES) Final Fight, and a whole bunch more.

I don't really play video games these days aside from the occasional flash game to kill 10 minutes or to break up monotony.

However, tonight I played this game called "Tapper." It is one of the best games ever. You are a bartender that has to run from bar to bar and slide beers to customers. It was designed in part by Budweiser (which is hilarious) and a beer tap is actually one of the two joysticks.

Really, the simple games do make the best ones. Also, my 14 year old self would go berserk at this next statement, but maybe the non-violent games are better than the violent ones. -John G

Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: Are you an anarchist? if not, then what?

A: No. Most people that believe in "true anarchy" are 14 and still get an allowance. In fact, true anarchy can't ever exist because as soon as a place becomes without laws, d-bags start shooting people up, enslaving people, and taking control of things. Check out parts of the Congo, for example. On top of that, anarchy can't exist because obviously anarchy is how civilization started and it evolved into jurisdictions.

No, I'm more of a John-ichist. We John-ichist believe in the betterment of all things John and that the state's job is to maximize the safety and happiness of John. Our official animal is an Ewok. Our official color is Keith Morris. This is our official anthem.

Interestingly, I'm the only John-ichist that I know. I know a Tony, but he's a Tony-ichist. I know a Bryce, but he's a Bryce-ichist. I know two Britts, and they are each Britt-ichists, but their interpretation of the Britt-ichist doctrine varies widely.

Really, I think nearly all of humanity, and maybe even 100%, really acts in self preservation and masks it behind certain doctrines that just happen to work in their favor, or, if they don;t at first glance, really do when all things are considered.
