Q: Do you think it is hypocritical when people complain about punk singers playing acoustically seeing that most of them start playing music that way?

A: I wouldn't say it's hypocritical considering the people who are complaining about it aren't the actual artists. I think naive would be a better word for it. I also think that most folks who complain about it are only complaining to appear as if they have a different opinion from the popular opinion. Most people see punk rock as being different from everyone else so it's not punk to agree with what everyone else likes regardless if you like it or not.

Wait until everyone stops playing acoustic then you will hear people complaining about how more songs need to be stripped down and they're sick of hearing full bands.

People are weird.

• The popular music festival, Coachella, announced their line up for this year that includes reunions from At The Drive-In and Refused.
• Along with Coachella, Refused plan on playing more shows for those non-Americans who can't make it to Coachella.
• But in the light of reunions comes the sad news of the end of the legendary punk rock label, Lookout Records.
• Lagwagon announced a tour of the west coast with Cobra Skulls and Nothington.
• Punchline's bassist still has a job.
• The Menzingers released a track from their highly anticipated upcoming album, On The Impossible Past.
• The Gaslight Anthem have entered the sudio to start recording their major label debut.

Q: In the 70s major labels made bands put out one LP/ yr. It resulted in fantastic runs of lps by Bowie Stones Queen etc. This production schedule is no longer demanded by major or indie labels. Has this made bands "over think" music and killed spontaneity?

A: I can see what you mean but that schedule has been usurped by the internet. Now, you have the ability to post new music, to the world, at any time. You can post an entire album that you recorded live in one take on line, if you like. You can look at artists like Into It. Over It. who did the 52 songs in 52 weeks projects.
Spontaneity still exists but it's up to musicians to self impose it, as opposed to having some coked out dick in a suit breathing down their neck.

• Fashion punx everywhere are pissed that an upscale London brand is using the Crass logo for their merchandise.
• In April, Las Vegas will be taken over by checkered clothes, pork pie hats, and skanking in the streets for Viva Ska Vegas.
• We reported an update on the Aceh punks in Indonesia as yet another dismal story of punks being arrested has come out of Malaysia as it was discovered that grindcore act, Wormrot, were detained by police after a show.
• Cleveland, OH's Mixtapes announced that they have joined the No Sleep Records roster.
• Punchline's bassist threatened to quit the band if nobody liked their new EP.
• Fat Mike made a new soundtrack for a fetish film and also revealed that NOFX are working on a new album.
• It was revealed that The Aquabats Super Show will be hitting super rad televisions sometime in March.

Q: What band is your favorite "collectable" band i.e. they release a lot of neat and unusual records with special songs on them?

A: I'm not a big vinyl nerd but I do enjoy purchasing records and I am always on the look out for Against Me! records. In fact, I own more Against Me! records than any other artist I listen to. I think their vinyl collection is pretty interesting. There are people who own every single color of every single Against Me! record. Do you know how many records that is? (According to a quick google search) There's 37 different colors of the Disco EP, 32 different colors of the Cavalier Eternal EP, and 44 (!!!) different colors of Reinventing Axl Rose. THAT'S INSANE. To me anyway. That's all I wanted to type anyway. There's a ton more.

As for special songs, I absolutely love the acoustic version of "You Look Like I Need a Drink". It's a lot better than the electric version in my eyes.

I just love that Against Me! seem to always be putting something out on vinyl. So many 7-inches. So little money.
