Q: What happened to Rancid?

During the final crisis between the death of the Forth World and the ascension of the Fifth, Rancid was imprisoned in the Command-D Bunker in Blüdhaven. They escaped and Tim Armstrong made a once in a lifetime exception to his no firearms rule, shooting Darkseid with the same bullet used to kill Orion. As Darkseid is shot he fires back and hits Rancid with the Omega Sanction beams, forcing them to be reborn in the the past and lead increasingly horrible lives for all eternity.

That or they started hanging around with Skinhead Rob and shit got weird. -Adam

• The availability (or lack thereof) of free water at the venue Sonar during the otherwise well-received Insubordination Fest has boiled over into a controversy.
• Fucked Up's Pink Eyes interviewed the much derided crunkcore act Brokencyde and shockingly didn't make fun of them
• Gentlemen put down your razors: The Fest 9 has been confirmed for Halloween 2010.
• Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone was severely injured after intervening in the beating of a woman in Chicago, IL. He's now recovering and his suspected assailant has been arrested.
• The reunited Blink-182 have hit the studio
• Conor Oberst / Bright Eyes commented on the Arizona boycott in new open letter
• Anti-Flag frontman Justin Sane released the new song "Solidarity In The Face Of Anti-Progressives"inspired by the G20 protests in Toronto.

All of you.

No, seriously. All of our readers are the future of punk rock. Either you're going to help decide what bands are tops by supporting them financially and creating a space where bands can play great music and be paid for it, or you're going to eventually get frustrated and start your own band that'll become everything that these other bands aren't.

Without the fans, there's no future for anything. And we've all learned about the power of natural selection: you, fans, are Mother Nature. And your critical ears are the future of punk rock.

• The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are gearing up for an August tour with Teenage Bottlerocket and The Flatliners
• Bands like Rise Against and Flogging Molly have joined the BP Boycott. That tanker of crude that Tim had on order? Cancelled.
• Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel performed "White Crosses" acoustically with Franz Nicolay accompanying on accordion.
• Jim Lindberg, formerly of Pennywise has resurfaced in a new band called The Black Pacific
• Anchor Arms has called it quits after three years.
• NOFX detailed their upcoming singles and rarities collection
• We had some footage of the Gaslight Anthem and their hero Bruce Springsten performing "No Surrender" together.
• The Swingin' Utters and the Copyrights are touring together soon.
• Finally, Marky Ramone wants his Ramones money. To find it he'll have to solve a complex series of clues we at Punknews have been amassing for this very occasion.

Q: Honest thoughts about Warped Tour?

A: I saw Hot Water Music play the main stage, while Flogging Molly and AFI played one of the weird side stages in 2000. I was in 9th grade, and I saw some great music, and some bad music, and I didn't go back anymore because I didn't like sitting out in the sun. I haven't been to another festival since because of the harsh elements and my delicate constitution. But seriously, back in the day, it exposed me to some good music, and to this day it serves a purpose. If you don't like the bands playing, you don't have to go. The Gathering of the Juggalos happens once a year, and I'm not personally offended by it. I just have to avoid where it's happening. -Jesse
