Brent Hinds, formerly of Mastodon, killed in Motorcycle accident

Late last night, Brent Hinds, formerly of Mastodon, was killed in a motorcycle accident. According to Police reports, he was riding his Harley around 11:30pm in Atlanta when a BMW SUV failed to yield while making a turn at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Boulevard. The Fulton County medical examiner’s office confirmed his death.

Hinds split from Mastodon in March. while the band stated that the split was mutual, Hinds would post on social media that he was kicked out of the band. The band stated in an instagram post: "We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief… last night Brent Hinds passed away as a result of a tragic accident. We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many. Our hearts are with Brent’s family, friends, and fans. At this time, we please ask that you respect everyone’s privacy during this difficult time. RIP Brent."

Ozzy Osborne has passed away

Just weeks after his final performance (solo and with Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne has passed away. He was 76. Osbourne's family released a brief statement: "“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” We send our condolences to Ozzy's family, friends, and fans. Bill Chamberlain of the Pist and Dissidents has passed away

Quite sadly, Bill Chamberlain of The Pist, The Dissidents, Mankind, and many other bands. His family stated that he passed away after a brief illness. For a number of years, Bill also ran Wild Mutation Records in Philadelphia. He was a really nice guy. We send our condolences to Bill's family, friends, and fans.

Brian Wilson has passed away

Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys, has passed away. He was 82 years old. His family announced his passing on Instagram in a statement that reads,

”We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away.

We are at a loss for words right now.

Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving.

We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.

Sly Stone has passed away

Sly Stone has passed away

Sly Stone, funk singer, songwriter, producer, and bandleader of Sly and the Family Stone, has passed away. He was 82 years old. He passed away following “a prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues” on June 9, 2025 according to a statement released by his family. The statement reads,

”It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone. After a prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues, Sly passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family. While we mourn his absence, we take solace in knowing that his extraordinary musical legacy will continue to resonate and inspire for generations to come.

Sly was a monumental figure, a groundbreaking innovator, and a true pioneer who redefined the landscape of pop, funk, and rock music. His iconic songs have left an indelible mark on the world, and his influence remains undeniable. In a testament to his enduring creative spirit, Sly recently completed the screenplay for his life story, a project we are eager to share with the world in due course, which follows a memoir published in 2024.

We extend our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers during this difficult time. We wish peace and harmony to all who were touched by Sly’s life and his iconic music.

Sly and the Family Stone were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Sly Stone’s final album I’m Back! Family and Friends was released in 2011 and he released his memoir Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) in 2024. We send our condolences to Sly Stone’s family, friends, and fans.

Reggae icon Max Romeo has passed away

Sadly, reggae legend Max Romeo has passed away. Romeo was 80 and passed away due to heart complications in Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica, on Friday. As you know, Romeo is an incredibly important figure in Jamaican music, having recorded a number of hits in the '60s, before moving on to Roots reggae in the '70s. One of his most seminal works is War inna Babylon recorded with Lee Scratch Perry, which includes the song "Chase the devil." You can hear just some of Romeo's tunes below.

Sadly, Dave Allen of Gang of Four has passed away. He was 69 and had been suffering from dementia. Allen was a Gang of Four founder and was in the band from 1977-1981 and 2004-2008. After playing in Gang of Four's original run, Allen formed Shriekback. We send our condolences to Allen's family.
