Andrew Jackson Jihad: “People Who Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People In The World”

You got folk in my punk! No, you got punk in my folk! You got beards in my mohawk! You got…the point. Andrew Jackson Jihad play some catchy, upbeat folk punk that instantly draws similarities to folk–punk scene steerers Ghost Mice while being perhaps a bit more inventive at times. You can be your own judge, as we have AJJ's Asian Man debut up for streaming in it's entirety.

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Compact Disc with Screeching Weasel

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Compact Disc with Screeching Weasel

Today is the 25th Anniversary of the venerable compact disc. On August 17th, 1982, the world's first CD pressing plant punched out its very first disc. According to documents, that CD was Abba's The Visitors. (Ask your parents) More than 200 billion CDs have been sold since then.

Even you vinyl nuts probably have a few of these ubiquitous discs floating around your home. To celebrate the anniversary, we could find no better person to both explain and comment on the compact disc than Ben Weasel, and appropriately enough, he did so way back in 1998 on the Screeching Weasel EP Major Label Debut.

To that end, we asked Ben if we could stream the song in honor of the anniversary. You can check it out on Screeching Weasel's Punknews.org Profile. Be sure to listen to it all the way through or you may miss Ben's oh-so subtle commentary.

Bedouin Soundclash

Bedouin Soundclash: “Street Gospels”

The upcoming third full length from Toronto roots reggae three piece Bedouin Soundclash has been a long time coming. 2004's Sounding A Mosaic was already long in the tooth when it suddenly broke in Canada, and the unexpected attention forced the band to put the in-production Street Gospels on the shelf for some time. This year will finally see the record, produced by Darryl Jenifer if the legendary Bad Brains, hit stores on August 21, 2007.

We're thrilled to bring you a full album stream of the new LP. You can stream it via the band's Punknews.org profile page.
